Community Connection
YCD has a diversity of relationships within the communities in the region. We support a variety of initiatives that enrich the Central Island lifestyle. We are also deeply committed to a new era of investing in reconciliation with First Nations, with a focus on the Stz’uminus and Snuneymuxw First Nations.
Supporting community-based projects – We are proud to contribute to many projects that enhance our region, from Ladysmith’s Festival of Lights to Nanaimo Hospital Foundation’s Light the Trees fundraiser to the Vancouver Island Business Excellence Awards Green & Sustainability category.
Making public presentations – To keep residents in our service area updated on our many activities, and to get their input, we make public presentations around the region. The feedback and questions we receive help us as we form our plans for the future.
Sharing information –We communicate regularly with our neighbours throughout the Central Island on our social media sites and blog.
OUR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Our Blue Navigator Ambassadors provide invaluable assistance and hospitality to the travelling public and visitors. The volunteers are drawn from all corners of the region and share a passion for helping others.
We’re looking to expand the team. If you’re interested in a fulfilling volunteer position, we offer a flexible schedule and training.
