Direct seasonal flights to Toronto return
1 April 2025
Direct flights from Nanaimo Airport to Toronto will return this summer starting on Friday, June 6.
Air Canada resumes its seasonal schedule of non-stop flights with Friday and Saturday night departures each week through August 30.
Passengers leaving Nanaimo Airport will take off at 11:30 p.m. They’ll arrive at Toronto’s Pearson Airport at 7:04 a.m. local time.
Flights from Toronto will leave at 8:15 p.m. local time and touch down in Nanaimo at 10:30 p.m. B.C. time.
Passengers will make the trip aboard a 737 Max 8 aircraft. The plane covers the approximately 3,400 kilometres in roughly 5 hours and 15 minutes.
Travellers, businesses benefit
“Our partnership with Air Canada gives Island residents another convenient option for connecting with one of the country’s major cultural, financial, and business hubs,” says Dave Devana, CEO and president of Nanaimo Airport.
“If you’re heading to Toronto, flying out of Nanaimo saves a lot of time and money,” he adds. “You won’t need to pay for a hotel or wait in line for a ferry or drive for a few hours to another airport.”
Air Canada’s commitment to the Nanaimo market is a vote of confidence for our region, he adds. The direct flights will help connect families across the country while creating additional tourism, business and employment opportunities.
The resumption of the seasonal flight results from Nanaimo Airport Commission’s strategic focus on the domestic market for route development. Though airlines decide which routes they will offer, the commission works with major and regional carriers to provide the necessary support they need. As an example, the commission plans more than $150 million in infrastructure investment over the next five to 10 years.
Connecting flights
Flights from Nanaimo Airport take Islanders to the country’s major air hubs, where they have access to hundreds of connecting flights.
